Ancol Tough Super Barbell Plate – 23cm
A 23cm disc of strong rubber shaped like the weight plate off a barbell, with grippable edges moulded in so both dog and owner have something solid to take hold of. The shape is the point: a flat plate with an open centre is far easier for a dog to pick up, shake and swing than a plain ball, and it gives you a handhold for tug without needing a rope.
Thrown flat it rolls and wobbles rather than bouncing away in a line, which keeps a fetch session honest. The rubber flexes enough to be comfortable in a mouth while holding its shape, and Ancol pitch it squarely at dogs who like to tug, shake and show off their strength.
<>Performance & Benefits
- Moulded in high-quality strong rubber for long-lasting durability.
- 23cm across, so there is plenty for a dog to grip and plenty left for your hand.
- Grippable edges that both dog and owner can hold, so tugging needs no separate rope.
- Open centre makes it easy to pick up, carry and shake.
- Rolls and wobbles when thrown, giving a less predictable chase than a ball.
- Supplied in widely recyclable, plastic-free packaging.
Suitable For
- Medium and large dogs that tug, shake and carry.
- Interactive games with an owner rather than solo chewing.
- Strong-jawed dogs that go through softer toys quickly.
- Garden and park use on grass.
- Too large and heavy for a toy breed or a small puppy — the Ancol Tough Coffee Grounds Hippo or the Ancol Playtime Chase Tough Rubber Ball suit small mouths better.
How to Use
- Take one edge, let your dog take the other, and keep tugs low and level.
- Throw it flat along grass to make it roll, or spin it for a longer chase.
- Wash with warm soapy water as required and allow to dry fully before reuse.
- Check the edges and the centre for splits after heavy sessions.
Specification
- 23cm across. Barbell plate shape with an open centre and grippable edges.
- High-quality strong rubber.
- Ancol product code 991755, from the Playtime Tough range.
- Widely recyclable, plastic-free packaging.
- Ancol describe the material only as high-quality strong rubber and publish no weight, thickness or fuller material specification, so none is given here.
Care & Caution
- Not indestructible. Dogs should always be supervised during play.
- Check the toy regularly for signs of wear and remove it immediately if it is damaged.
- Keep tug games low and level. Lifting a dog clear of the ground by a toy risks its neck and its teeth.
- Do not let two dogs tug the same plate between them — that is how teeth get broken and rubber gets torn.
