Equine America Like Ice Natural Clay – 2.7kg
Like Ice is a ready-mixed cooling clay for legs, applied after work to knees, fetlocks, hocks and tendons. Equine America build it on kaolin and bentonite clays with aloe vera, tea tree and eucalyptus oils, and it goes on straight from the tub — no mixing, no warming, no waiting.
The 2.7kg tub is the smaller of the two sizes Equine America make; there is also an 11.3kg tub for a busy competition or racing yard. Equine America state Like Ice is suitable for horses competing under FEI regulations and the Rules of Racing.
<>Performance & Benefits
- Kaolin and bentonite clay base, applied cold and left to dry on the leg.
- Aloe vera, tea tree and eucalyptus oils in the formulation.
- Ready mixed, so it can be put on in the time it takes to fetch a bucket of water off.
- Can be bandaged over moist brown paper, or simply left uncovered.
- Washes or hoses off, which makes it practical between rounds or on consecutive competition days.
- Equine America state it is suitable for horses competing under FEI regulations and the Rules of Racing.
Suitable For
- Legs after fast work, jumping, hunting or a long day at a show.
- Knees, fetlocks, hocks and the tendon area.
- Yards that want something quicker than mixing a clay powder by hand.
- Competition and racing yards needing a product cleared for use under FEI and racing rules.
- Not a treatment for an injury, heat or swelling you cannot account for. That is a call for your vet, not a clay.
How to Use
- Clean the area first, removing dirt and any other product already on the leg.
- Apply a layer up to 1cm thick over the area you are treating.
- Either cover with moist brown paper and bandage appropriately, or leave it uncovered.
- Wash or hose off thoroughly after a few hours, and repeat if needed.
- Close the tub firmly after use so the clay does not dry out.
Specification
- Contains clays — kaolin and bentonite — with aloe vera, tea tree and eucalyptus oils.
- 2.7kg tub. Also made in 11.3kg.
- Our SKU 1001843, barcode 5060343790964.
- Equine America publish no full percentage breakdown of the formulation, so none is stated here.
- Our earlier page listed glycerine, boric acid, ferrous sulphate and a named ingredient called Sorboplex, and claimed cooling for up to 24 hours and application for up to 12 hours. None of that appears in Equine America's own product information and it has been removed.
Care & Caution
- Keep out of eyes. It contains tea tree and eucalyptus oils.
- Do not apply over broken skin, open wounds or a fresh clip rash.
- If you bandage over it, bandage competently. A badly applied bandage over clay does more harm than the clay does good.
- Equine America publish no warnings for this product; the points above are ordinary yard practice for a topical clay.
