Bartleby Childs Welly Sock – Farmyard Friends, Size 9–3
The Farmyard Friends sock is the patterned version of Bartleby’s children’s boot sock, marked size 9–3. Like the rest of the range it is knitted long, so the rim of a wellington sits against the sock rather than against the back of a child’s calf on a long walk.
Bartleby name each welly sock after its design rather than a code, and Farmyard Friends is one of the farm-animal patterns the children’s range is built around. What the pattern looks like in close detail, and what the sock is made of, Otterdene keep inside their trade catalogue.
<>Performance & Benefits
- Knitted long for wellingtons, where the boot top would otherwise rub bare skin.
- Farmyard Friends design, one of the farm-animal patterns in the children’s range.
- Size 9–3 covers most primary-school feet without buying a new size every term.
- Thick enough to take up the room in a boot bought a size large.
- A named design makes a pair easier to tell apart in a shared boot room.
Suitable For
- Children who wear wellingtons for farm visits, feeding rounds and yard jobs.
- Wet-weather school runs and outdoor forest-school sessions.
- Presents for a child who already has the boots and wants the sock to match.
- Boot rooms where several pairs of identical socks get mixed up.
- Grown-up feet are outside this size range — the Bartleby Ladies Funky Welly Sock 4-7 is the adult equivalent.
How to Use
- Pull the sock fully up the calf before the foot goes into the boot.
- Smooth out any rucking at the toe and heel, which is where a welly rubs first.
- Machine wash with similar colours; keep the pattern out of a hot tumble dryer.
- Dry the sock and the boot separately after a wet day.
Specification
- Bartleby® welly sock, Farmyard Friends design, children’s size 9–3.
- Made under the Bartleby® label by Otterdene Ltd of Cullompton, Devon.
- No fibre percentages, sock length or knit weight are published: the Otterdene catalogue needs a trade account and the Bartleby brand site carries no specification.
- Earlier copy on this page described the sock as breathable and moisture-managing; neither claim appears in anything Bartleby publish, so both have been removed.
